Sonja Hoffmann appointed Director Underwriting
at DR Swiss

Zurich, 10 June 2024 – Sonja Hoffmann (48) will take over the position of Director Underwriting at Deutsche Rückversicherung Switzerland Ltd (DR Swiss) on 1 July 2024. She will report to Achim Bosch, Managing Director of DR Swiss and Executive Board member of Deutsche Rück Group, and is based at DR Swiss’ headquarters in Zurich. Sonja Hoffmann will assume the position of Director Underwriting from Frank Versluis (59). 

Sonja Hoffmann has been with DR Swiss since 2009. She was appointed authorised signatory in 2010. She is currently responsible for the Dutch market and heads the Technical Underwriting department, which she will continue to manage in her new role. In the past, she was also responsible for Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria and selected cedants in Germany. 

Before joining DR Swiss, Sonja Hoffmann had already gained reinsurance experience at Swiss Re, where she completed her postgraduate business education. In addition to German, she also speaks English, Spanish, French and Dutch.

Hoffmann's predecessor Frank Versluis is stepping down from his previous position and will pursue new professional challenges in the future. Bosch thanked Versluis for his achievements as Director Underwriting at DR Swiss. “Frank Versluis not only guided his team through the difficult and challenging times of the pandemic, but also shaped the reorganisation of underwriting and successfully managed the generational change in the team,” said Bosch.
